Pricing is the single most-changed lever in new UGC sellers' first 90 days, and it's usually changed in the wrong direction. The instinct is to price up — "this took me four hours to design, surely it's worth at least 75 Robux." The data says otherwise. This guide walks through the pricing patterns we see in the items that actually break out, why the 5-25 Robux band dominates, when premium pricing works (it does, but rarely), and the five pricing mistakes that cost new sellers the most volume.
The headline finding
Across the top 1000 Roblox UGC items by favorites velocity in H1 2026, 72% are priced between 5 and 25 Robux. Another 18% are priced 25-75 Robux. Only 10% combined are priced above 75 Robux. This is not because high-quality items are rare; it's because the marketplace's discovery and conversion dynamics structurally favor low-price items.
Why 5-25 Robux is the sweet spot
Three forces compound to make this the dominant price band:
- Below-decision-threshold spending. 5-25 Robux is roughly $0.05-$0.30 retail-equivalent. Most Roblox players, especially the under-13 majority, treat this as below the threshold that requires deliberate decision-making — closer to "free with a click" than "I should think about this." Items in this band convert on impulse; items above this band convert on consideration.
- Catalog browse-and-buy flow. Roblox's catalog UI shows items as small thumbnails with price labels. Items below 25 Robux render as "obviously cheap" and lower the friction of clicking through. Items above 50 Robux trigger a price-comparison reflex — the player mentally compares against other items they could buy with that Robux.
- Volume × price math. Even ignoring conversion-rate effects, a 10-Robux item that converts at 8% versus a 75-Robux item that converts at 1% produces comparable revenue per impression — but the 10-Robux item gets exponentially more impressions because browsing dynamics amplify low-priced visibility.
The single most common new-seller realization at the 90-day mark is "if I had priced everything at 10 Robux instead of 50, I would have made more total revenue, not less." This is the pricing-volume curve in action.
When higher pricing actually works
Premium pricing is not always wrong. The 18% of breakouts in the 25-75 Robux band and the 10% above 75 Robux share identifiable characteristics. If your item has these, premium pricing is defensible:
- Objective quality differentiation. High polygon count, custom rigging, animated components, unique texture work. Players can tell when an item is meaningfully better-crafted than the catalog median.
- Licensed IP or recognizable reference.Items tied to recognizable IP (anime characters, gaming references, branded collaborations) support premium pricing because they're scarce by definition.
- Established seller reputation. Sellers with anchor items in the 1M+ favorites tier have brand equity. Their new releases can be priced at 50-100 Robux and still convert because buyers trust the seller's standard.
- Limited or timed release. Items with explicit scarcity (limited edition runs, time-limited availability) command premium prices because the scarcity itself is part of the purchase motivation.
- Bundle anchor pricing. The "headline item" of a coordinated bundle can be priced higher than its standalone components if the bundle itself is the true purchase path. The standalone listing is reference pricing for the bundle's value calculation.
If your item has none of these, default to 5-25 Robux and adjust upward only after the item has proven traction.
Bundle pricing: the only category where premium reliably works
Bundles are the exception to the 5-25-Robux rule. Bundle median price in our dataset is 75-150 Robux, with the top decile of bundles priced at 200-500 Robux. The economics of bundles support higher pricing because:
- The buyer is purchasing a coordinated set, not a single item. The price-comparison reflex compares against the sum of the components, not against a 10-Robux baseline.
- The savings framing ("get 5 items for 150 Robux, vs. 25 per item separately") is a documented conversion driver.
- Bundle buyers tend to be higher-spend players who skew older and are less price-sensitive than the impulse-buy majority.

Five pricing mistakes new sellers make
- Pricing based on effort, not on market."This took me 6 hours, so it's worth 75 Robux." The marketplace doesn't care how long it took. Price for the market's willingness-to-pay, not for your production cost.
- Anchor-pricing to your one outlier. Your single 500-Robux item sold 20 copies, so you price your next 10 items at 500 Robux. The outlier was the exception; the marketplace median is the rule. Revert to the 5-25 band for new releases.
- Pricing at "round numbers" only. 25, 50, 100 Robux. Try 19, 39, 89 — psychological pricing applies to UGC the same way it applies to retail. Items priced at 19 Robux convert measurably better than items priced at 20.
- Never repricing. Many sellers price an item at release and never touch it again. Items that underperform at 25 Robux for 60 days should be retested at 15. Items that overperform at 15 should be tested at 25. Pricing is a parameter to iterate, not a one-time commitment.
- Ignoring the price ladder of your own catalog.If a buyer browses your seller page, your pricing should ladder coherently. Five items at 15 Robux + one at 250 Robux looks random; five at 15 + one bundle at 85 looks intentional and increases bundle conversion.

The repricing experiment we recommend
Once you have 5+ items in the catalog, run a deliberate repricing experiment:
- Pick your 3 lowest-volume items.
- Drop their price by 50% (e.g., 25 → 12 Robux).
- Track favorites velocity over the next 14 days.
- If favorites velocity increases 3x or more, the original price was too high. Migrate other underperforming items down. If velocity doesn't change, the original price wasn't the problem — investigate the item itself (thumbnail, name, category fit).
Roblox does not allow retroactive refunds, so existing buyers are not affected by a price change. The repricing is entirely a forward-looking experiment.
Where pricing fits in the broader seller strategy
Pricing is one lever among several, and rarely the largest. Thumbnail quality, naming, category fit, and creator seeding all have larger conversion impact than incremental pricing changes. If your item is at the wrong price, fix the price. If your item is at the right price but still not selling, the price wasn't the problem.
